Gymnogeophagus labiatus

This is the 2nd time I have caught a female w a mouth full, 1st time I tried to strip her and lost all but one fry and I lost it later, wow, she really puts up a fight when striping. This time I pulled her to a ten gallon w sand substrate, she is full up, I know they are fry not eggs, hopping for the best.

This is a pic off the net, my male doesn't have that extensive of a hump yet, he is young.

After the failed fiasco of the 1st attempt, I'm going to let her spit em if she will, I'll give her 3 days to cough em up :cool:

I have stripped my share of fry/eggs/wigglers, this particular female is just real hard to do, I have never had a fish put up that big a tussle when stripping, I'm going to try to let her spit, which I prefer actually any way, good article tho

I forgot you had those. Its pretty rare to spawn those. Good luck with the stripping!

well... I had a orange zebra that I had a hard time stripping...

I held her out of water for a minute or so...

when she started gasping...I dumped her back in adn wooolllaaaa I hadf ry.

well i gave up on her waiting to spit, she didnt look good and wasnt going to spit em in that tank so this morning i shook em out. looks like 100 to 150, put her back in main tank and she is lookng better
