Depending on what kind of crays you want to breed, you won't need anything that big. You can keep the small crays in 10 gallon tanks. A kiddy pool could work if you want to start a larger operation, but me personally, I would want to be able to observe them more closely, at least the first few times.

If volume is what you're after, you could expand to larger enclosures and try to ramp up production after you've gotten some successful batches.

you will need something big with lots of hiding places... you will also need a male and a female. They are highly aggressive and very territorial.

Why not breed marbled crayfish? You wouldnt have to get a pair... a single marbled crayfish can give birth to about 50-300 eggs at one time. They are very easy to take care of and doesnt get that large as a normal cray, very peaceful also.

Marbled crays are easy to breed but if he is going to use them as bait they would need to be dead so we won't get them loose in our waters.
I have lots of them for sale and 3 females berried right now if you want some. Just be sure not to let them get out into the wild.

Mine are in 55. I pull the moms before they release the little ones off her tail and raise them in another tank. There is lots of info on them on the net. Do some research to gather enough info to get set up to raise them. Just remember, don't use them live to fish with so they won't into our local waterways.

they're not too hard. keep em in a cool kiddy pool with lots of hiding places. preferably a mud bank of some sort if you want them to breed. crawfish make much better bait (I'll be out there soon!) than marbled, as they can still be alive. I've gathered up 20 or so and put them in a spare tank for a day or two during the fishing season.

with the marbled cray fish they work well i have been using them for a year what i do is freez them so there is no chance of them populating in the wild. it is very important that you do this becouse they are an invasive species and could very easily change the intine eco system of your pond or lake. these are only for people that are very carfull
Thanks:)
