If you were going to subscribe to just one magazine that covers - deals with this sickness we all call a hobby which one would it be?:twitch:

Tropical Fish Hobbyist. Probably my favorite magazine. Well rounded, best photography, & several big name contributors too. It's more expensive than the rest.
I'm kind of biased on my opinion though, I do planted tanks and TFH always has 2 articles a month on planted aquariums. Takashi Amano always does a feature article & Rhonda Wilson probably has the most common sense approach to planted tanks I've seen so I would buy the mag just for their insight alone.
If your going on a budget then I would go with Aquarium Fish Magazine, this would be my second choice. Often their features mirror TFH's stories. Just a little less in it.

minitruckin, sport truck, street truck, and bp world.
I get TFH and it's ok- I'd say 25-35% is valuable to me. But I haven't seen anything else out there that's more appealing. This last issue was a real downer to me.
One thing I have noticed- web forums are a dime a donsen and they're are a lot that are linked to one another- I don't get that. but that's a different thread.
David, I'll be happy to give you a stack of my old TFH so you can look thru and see if it's something you wanna get on a regular basis. There is very much a format to the magazine. Freshwater Questions, Saltwater questions, Planted Tank, Discus, Live Bearer, Monster, Salt, Travel, another salt and Ads.
The other problem I have seen in other publications- they tend to appear to be first time fish keepers magazines and deal with first time fishkeeper issues- which is great at Petsmart, but not for continued, long term reading.
I also check for cheap books at 1/2 priced- I have an AWESOME dwarf cichlid book that I picked up for a couple bucks and I read it all the time.

Chris is spot on with TFH, its also25-30 pecent interesting..then goes salty(bleh) but the freshy stuff is really good and the plant stuff is really helpful even though i have no talent for it!!
I'm interested in having live plants- but not working too hard.
I buy low light plants and throw some liquid fert in occasionally- that's it- no CO2, no special lights or anything....and I still don't know what they're called.
But the ones I have look like I want em to look- good nuff.

I like Tropical Fish Hobbyist as well. Could be because it is the only one I can ever find, but I enjoy it!

Pickle's selling magazine subs. right now. In the catalog is a magazine called Aquarium Fish International. It has Freshwater and Marine in it but for 12/$15, I figured it was worth a try.
