When Cindy brought up the subject I started doing some research and found a really intersting site all about moss.
Truth about moss (http://www.killies.com/Truthaboutmosses.htm)
Supposedly, Christmas moss and Singapore moss are really hard to tell apart.
I found some good auctions on eBay for some moss if anyone would like to go in on a group buy.

Andrew,
this is another site that has moss info.
Actually it looks like some of the info on the Killie site was take frm this site, can't tell from the references.

Back when I had my Taiwian and Xmas moss separated, I could tell a little bit of difference. The Xmas moss would drape over more once it got some growth on it. Now mine is all mixed together and my darn SAE's are keeping it pruned quite short.
I had some moss sold as "erect moss" and it did seem to grow in more of an erect manner, but it seems to have disappeared now.
I purchased all of these mosses from a guy on Aquabid from Singapore. They were very expensive for the size of the samples that I received, but they did grow well until I got the SAE's.

What type of moss does everyone currently have before we go in on a group buy?
Maybe we can start a moss exchange program?

I've got some Java.
I could probably spare a couple of golf ball size clumps if someone needs it. I do find snails in it from time to time.

Yeah, I have Java too, but it's full of pond snails which I wouldn't wish on my enemies to say the least about fellow fish keepers.

If someone would come catch these damned SAE's I would probably have enough moss for all of us. They keep the moss pruned so short that I'm surprised they haven't killed it yet.
I'd like to trade them out for a couple of clown loaches. I have snails out the wahzoo and back when I had clowns in that tank, there were no snails to be seen. I gave the clowns away when I bought 60 Amano shimp and something else ended up eating them all. So now I have no shrimp, no clowns, and a $hitload of snails. :confuzeld:

Here's a picture of the Xmas moss before they started getting pruned. I probably have some better pictures at home. I'll look later.
