View Full Version : Mystery
My 55 planted tank is KILLIN me!!
2 Bolivian Rams
4 Kuli Loaches
2 Black Loaches
2 YoYo loach
2 Flag Acara's
1 Hatchet
2 Emperor tetras
1 mountain minnow(?)
1 female Cockatoid
2 Borneo suckers
Notice...a male cockatoid is missing from the list?! Yup- he's the latest death in the tank. I've lost a few Kuli's and a couple Emperor tetra's.
Water is fine, regular water changes, ph is fine- temp is fine- sounds like someone is doing the beating up...think it could be the yoyos?
Help before I put the community/planted tank on the market.
FURIOUS!!!

Could it be the Acaras? or maybe the Tetras?
Any chance it is a lack of oxygen?
definately not the acara's and water has been changed too frequently to be oxygen. I'll move the tetra's just because. I still think it's gunna be the damn yoyo's that Brandy never picked up...

If it's the yo-yo's, Brandy's pretty darn smart not to have picked them up! http://www.pushupstairs.com/images/emoticon/extra3/couch.gif

Yoyo's??????? Who said I wanted yoyo's???? I'll get the yoyo's...........if you want to dig your mutt cichlids out of my 300 you gave me!!
Oh I see how it is- "Will someone give me fish to stock my 300g?" 3 months later- "these fish are mutts". :flipa: No more free fish for you!

Did Meagan do another water change for you?
:whip:
My guess would be the yo yo's...but I really don't know much about community fish.

Not sure if it the yo yo's, I've got 3 in my community with angels, rainbows, tetras, otto's and 2 angelicus loaches and ive never seen them pick on any other fish. You might have a couple bad apples though.

Different spin here. I have to hit my planted tank with metronidiazole from time to time when I start having unexplained deaths. This is a fairly common practice with wholesalers w/tetras.
I'll look into that-
Blake had a good idea- perhaps the food?... So I'm going to change to a more tropical/less protein mix and see if that helps a bit.

yo-yos are peaceful so i don't think they would be bullies. certin type of tetra can carry disease and pass it on to over fish. i move the tetras if you haven't done that all ready.
