Skipp,
have you looked into using the SoilMaster Select?

http://www.plantedtank.net/articles/Soilmaster-Select-Substrate/26/

And here is a comparison :

I knew there was another one that I forgot about. Thanks!

Now that is the stuff that I have to go to Ft. Worth to get right?

Any Lesco store can order it, now whether or not they have it in stock well...... I would call the one closest to you. I got a bag at the one in Plano a few weeks ago and they had 3 or 4 of the red in stock.
They have a store locator on their site, but for some reason, I'm having trouble getting on it

I went by there a month ago and they did not have any and said there were not going to get any more.

How much you looking for Skipp?

Well originally I was just going to add some flourite to the gravel that I just put in that has had flourite or laterite in it before. But now dunno...

I don't want over 3-4" so I guess just SMS

Here we go

This shows inventory at one of the Ft Worth stores having 20.
Anyway you have the phone numbers to call.

I'm guessing this is more of a spring/summer item and they probably do not carry it out of season.

Ok so I picked up SMS yesterday at Lesco. What is the secret to getting a clear tank? I cleaned it until I got tired of cleaning it, with 2 filters running it didn't clear up one bit. So I drained the tank cleaned some of it again and slooooowly refilled the tank. Then when I turned the filters on again it got cloudy again. WTF?

And yes I did clean the filters before starting them back up.

should have capped it....

I did not have that problem with the SMS.... I did not clean it either...

It would have been a nightmare if I hadn't cleaned it at all, it was really dirty. I didn't think you had to cap it....:confuzeld:

Probably just gonna have to let it settle out.

rolloffhill

So if I turn the filters off and let it settle, what is gonna make it not kick up again later? I am not diggin' this at all....

No... you don't have to cap it....

You don't have to pay taxes either....

I think it is better to cap it.... I have had better luck with capping.

Did you pour it over a plate or something or just into the SMS?

what is gonna make it not kick up again later?

Starts with a C ends with a P and the middle letter is A....

I put the hose into a pitcher, it took over an hour to fill (75g) it since I had it so low.

So if I need to cap it, what is the advantage of this stuff over flourite? I was under the impression that you could use this without anything else.

Actually I did clean most of the glass... around the bottom is a pain because there are a couple pieces of drift wood that makes it a pain to clean towards the bottom.

Well when you do.....remove the fork........clean the glass.......and pick up your mess!! hehehe
