I recieved some brine shrimp eggs packets from a friend but I guess they were a bit too old because after 36 hours at 80 degrees they didn't hatch. I have ordered some online but they only offered standard shipping.

I've called the LFS in the area and none of them sale fry food.

Now I'm worried that I'm going to starve the fry to death. I've tried blood worm powder and flake powder. A couple of them went for it but the rest didn't pay any attention to it.

So, if anyone close by has some brine shrimp eggs or fry food I would greatly appreciate being able to buy some from you.

I just got off the phone with Petfart and they have 'first bites'. Has anyone had any luck with that for angel fry?

Sorry those packets didn't hatch. Next time you're out this way I'll be glad to give you a couple scoops of the stuff I'm using.

Petland carries a liquid food for fry made by Wardley that works. It's sold in little tubes the size of purse-size hand lotion.

You can also buy decapsulated brine shrimp eggs that you feed directly to the fry, and Ken's has a fry food called "Golden Pearls" that hangs in the water column like baby brine shrimp.

Yeah, petfart has the first bites so I'm going to go pick some up. I'm also going to try and hatch another packet of the brine shrimp in the hopes that the first two packets were duds...doesn't hurt to try.

This is my first go around with fry so if I fail it won't be too demoralizing but thinking about those poor babies starving is upsetting.

Some Petsmarts have frozen baby brine in the frozen fish food freezer. I use it all the time for my fry from the time they start swimming.

you will have to wait for it to be shipped but Angelsplus has some very good Fry starter food. I got a sample bag with some other items I ordered from them and am very pleased with it.

I just called the two closest to me and they said that they have a few brands but none of them are labeled as baby brine..sigh.

I'm going to thaw out some of the regular brine I have and try to chop them up a bit.

Edit - Well all that did was make a mess, lol. I'm going to wait a while, clean it out, and then try ground flakes again.

The liquid fry food by Wardley that Nancy mentioned has worked for me with baby bettas. That or the frozen baby brine shrimp is what I would try. Good luck and let us know what happens.

I have had bad experiences with Wardleys food. It seems to be on the lower end of quality, full of preservtives and fillers. I think petco had frozen baby brine and you should call to confirm.

Yeah, none of the chain stores carried them but I found some at a near by LFS. I'm hatching them now but still not getting the rate that I would expect. I plan on picking up a hyrdometer so I can get an exact reading for the salinity. Everything else is spot on.

not one person has mentioned boiling an egg, taking out the yolk, freezing it, then shaving little bits off into the tank or putting it whole in a silk-screen bag frozen in the tank for a few minutes, then refreezing. Works like a charm, and cheap! One yolk lasts me 3-4 days with over 200 fry!

Some places carry frozen bbs as well.

This can work with very very young fry, but be careful, it fouls the water fast, especially if you use too much. You only need a piece about the size of a grain of rice, mix it with a bit of warm water, and use your finger to place it on the surface of the water so that it stays suspended for a bit.

This egg yolk method works for a lot of people, and I've tried it a couple of times with my betta fry, but I just prefer using infusoria those first few days. It definitely comes in handy though in emergencies!

I've never tried it, but it sounds great. Thanks for the idea!
