I put some in most of my tanks once a week or there abouts. Most of the fish seem to dig it.

Oh yeah! The only things my fish like even better are zucchini (I think because the skin is softer) and peas. The BNs eat the skin, the fish eat the insides. By the way, did you remove the seeds?

I'll bite... What happens if the seeds aren't removed?

I put a slice of zucchini on a fork most nights for one and only common Pleco. He sucks the hell out of it. I always take it out every morning. I tried frozen green peas, but they weren't touched. I would think the cucumber seeds would be inedible to the fishies, right? I would also think it would be best to skin the cucumber first.

peel the skin off and take the seed off and the fish will love them. when i had my silver dollars they went crazy for them it was like candy to a child.

I don't peel them nor do I remove the seeds. I clip two to a suction cup clip at feeding time (just before I go to bed) and by morning I have two "cucumber donuts" left and no other sign that I put anything into the tank. The fish love 'em.
I'll also ask... why de-seed them?
my wife cuts them long ways and in half- rubber bands them to a rock and leaves them for 3-4 days til it's nothing but a skin...she'd leave them longer if I'd quit bitchin and moaning about the mess. I'll have to try zuccinni.

Deseeding is necessary if you have smaller fish that cannot eat the seeds. The fish pick them out and they float off, leaving a big ol' mess in the tank. I always deseed when I feed cucumbers because the seeds are pretty tough. I sometimes deseed if I have zucchini.
I'm telling you though, if you've never cooked frozen peas and squashed the soft stuff into the tank, you've never had happy fish. Peas are sweet, and the fish reach a whole different plane of thrilldom!

You have to smash them? Like as in cooking food and preparing it for the fish?

I put about 1/2 cup of frozen peas in a pan and boil them for 9 min, then pour off the hot water and rinse them with cold.
When they're room temperature, put a couple of peas between your fingers and squash them into the tank, keeping hold of the outside of the pea. Discard skin, and repeat with more peas.
I think I used the wrong word before. It's not thrilldom. They express total thrillation!

No wonder my fish didn't go for the frozen peas I put in the tank! I didn't know to cook them first! Thanks, Haiven!

Not only does it thrill the fish, but my dogs follow me from tank to tank, dancing like there's no tomorrow. As I get a pile of skins, I give half to each dog. They love them, too!

You can also try cooked carrots. If you have any fish with red or orange coloring on them, they will practicaly glow after feeding them the carrots for a while. They are like the peas, slightly sweet. Just buy a can from the store and feed them right out of it. I had a tiger striped oscars a few years ago that the Mongolings hand fed cooked carrots to. It was like watching the kids eat M&Ms.

Here's what's left the morning after. It's the reason I scoop out the seeds:

My fish are too lazy to work for their food. I put a slice of cucumber in my tank and it was untouched for two days.
