View Full Version : A new level of "MTS"
We now have TWO feeder crawfish tanks set up. Megan had to have her baby crawfish moved so we could put another 2 weeks worth of Peanut food into the original feeder crawfish tank- so she made me set up a 20L to house momma and her babies underneath. She thinks I'M outta control.
Shesh, women!! :rolleyes1:
(We're back up to 11 tanks)

I have seen you speak of "Peanut" on several occasions. You mind if I ask what he/she is?
Pics would be cool too.
Peanut is my wifes Fahaka Puffer- one of the largest freshwater puffers. We got him in march- he was about 1.5" long. He's now over 9" long and eats a crawfish every other day and lives in a 225gallon tank. He's super personable and very noisy when he wants food.

LOL he still needs to show new pics of Peanut!! And here was his chance!
I took that picture lastnight! I took about 10 others, but that was the best and the others sucked. I need to take my camera over to Michelle's for camera training. :D

I am trying to subtract tanks. But you know if you can start your own crawfish breeding that will make Peanut a lot cheaper.

If peanut's all by him/her self in a 225, why don't yawl get a second Peanut (name it Jelly)? Especially since you're raising the food now.

It would be interesting but what would one cost at the size of Peanut?

They have to breed some how, don't they?

With 10-11 other tanks in the house, I'd imagine he could store a "little" one somewhere until it's big enough to go in with peanut (but of couse I know nothing about puffers and it might be a bad idea). Or even section off the tank for a while.

BLAH!!! You can't have 2 Oscars together at breeding maturity!! SO THERE!!! You have to have more then 6....for them to get along!!!!!!
Fahaka's don't play nice together and there's no documentation of them breeding in captivity that I know of. So that's not the greatest idea- I don't think. I'm already thinkin he's gunna need a larger tank in a year or two- once we move. So we'll see. I see acrylic and 500gallons or so. Who knows. I'll dig a freakin pond for the crawfish. Course, come spring- we'll have crawfish by the truckload. No issues.

That is what I was thinking. It sounds like puffers are real easy to breed or impossible.

I breed craw-dads in my ponds, just not on purpose! I thought about seining for some though and putting them in their own tank.
