I have a female pineapple sword and a female red velvet sword that are acting like they are in distress. The red velvet is hanging out at the top of the tank in the plants and the pineapple is on the same side of the tank, but at the bottom. Both are lethargic and seem to be breathing heavy. Yes, both are pregnant. All other fish are acting fine. I've put StressCoat in the tank today and Metafix yesterday. They were fine this morning, swimming around and eating well. Not being picked on at all. They are two of the largest fish in the tank and I've had them 3-4 weeks. I'm not noticing any color changes.
Ammonia = 0 Nitrite = 0 pH = 7.6
Suggestions??? Help!!!

The pineapple sword passed away. I had her in a birthing container and noticed some underdeveloped fry at the bottom. May have been a birthing death. :(
The red velvet is now in the birthing tank. Still not moving much. Least she's isolated so the others can't pick on her.

Aw, sorry to hear that! I wonder what happened?? I hope your velvet makes it...and her fry.
I have three swords, a male and female pineapple pair and a red velvet female. I haven't seen the female pineapple for about 3 days now. I can't find her anywhere in or out of the tank so I think she's dead in the hollow log. She's done this before though...just hides out and suddenly reappears.

The velvet seemed to be doing better last night, but she was dead this morning. Weird how both took a drastic turn for the worse at the same time. I noticed that there were a couple of underdeveloped fry in the birthing tank with the velvet so it seems that what took the pineapple also took the velvet. Everybody else seems ok.
Hopefully your pineapple will make a reappearance. Probably wants to have time to herself away from those horndog males!

Damn, I am so sorry!
I have a young velvet ready to go, if you're interested. I've never grown them from fry though, so I don't know when they get their tail. This one's more than half the length of the adults so I'm reasonably sure it's a female.

Ah Misty, that's sweet of you! The gals are feeling a bit outnumbered so I'm sure they would appreciate a young gal joining their group. Let me make sure everything is settled in the tank before getting her. Still at 0 for ammonia and nitrites and 7.6 for pH, so I'm thinking the pineapple and velvet's passings was weird timing. Who knows... :confuzeld:

That's fine, just let me know when. I'm just in Allen so we should be able to plan a time fairly easy, lol.
